68 and up left side window regulator

This is a 68 and up LH regulator. I purchased by mistake for my 67 and cannot use it. Anyone have a correct reg for trade? Otherwise, will sell or trade. Thanks

I found 2 LH regulators, 1 is stripped badly and the other has several bad teeth. What is wrong with your original? Or do you have one?

Bummer...no, I don't have one. My patrol was pretty well stripped when I bought it so a lot of the basic stuff I've been trying to locate. I'm down to the last few items and this is one of the big ones. Thanks Ron...let me know if you find one I can use...have a good one, darren

A couple of times I've fixed my LH regulator due to stripped teeth on the arm portion (see the picture below).

- weld some material to fill the broken teeth area
- grind the weld until the surface is flat, and the overall curvature outside is good
- find a used regulator of another car, and cut a section that has the teeth. You need to find one that has roughly the same pitch, and don't care about the curvature. This is going to be a template and you'll be adjusting teeth by teeth.
- attach the template to your regulator and secure with locking pliers, and one by one, proceed to grind again the missing teeth.

You might end up with some rough spots when you operate, but it will do the trick. Put a lot of grease! Good to go for 10 more years!

How different are the regulators, can you re-drill your door/regulator mounting holes to make it work

Regulators and their location in the door are totally different so it's not a clean proposition. Then you'll fase the problem on the other door as well.

This is exactly how I was planning to fix my regulators, as well - The only other info I would add for anyone who wants to attempt to weld their window regulator teeth is: Be careful- That is super-soft mild steel, so don't hit it with a lot of current - use very low settings

and, for anyone who can't weld, and is looking for an alternative method - If you have a $25 MAP torch, then you might be able to build the teeth back up with Muggy Weld Super Alloy-1:

This stuff sticks well, cools hard, and is grindable and shape-able after it cools. I can't guarantee that the teeth would last as long as welding them with steel rod or wire, but I can testify that muggy weld's entire line of brazing alloys are VERY AWESOME products.... very expensive, but VERY awesome...
