Hey folks,

I am talking to a guy who brings in parts for Toyota Land Cruisers from Colombia. He is willing to assist with new parts for Patrols. He sends shipping containers up here from time to time. He has one due on the 18th of this month and one of the 31st. This guy takes paypal.

You can get almost everything for old Patrols in Colombia. Rare items like tool kits, jack, stock wheels or early specific items like wiper motors are not available.

Any interest in this?

I just spent 20 minutes on the phone with "Frank" who handles this for the Cruiser guys. He sounds like a super solid guy but this is not his full time job.

I think I will be getting a load of new parts through this guy in the next 2-4 weeks.

FYI; here is a sample of parts available in Colombia;

-complete tie rod & drag link assembly, left hand drive
-pitman arm on steering box
-steering box bearings and seal
-ALL trans & t-case seals and bearings, synchros too
-Alternator, starter, fuel pump, oil pump, water pump, distributor, brake master cylinder, clutch mater/slave cylinders
-brake springs & wheel cylinders
-ALL body parts. No long waits like it is now with PACOL
-clutch t/o bearing, disc and cover too
-ALL axle seals and bearings
-engine oil pressure sender, water temp sender, brake light switch and more


Parts are a mix of OEM, NOS and aftermarket. Aftermarket parts are a mix of Japanese and lower quality like made in Taiwan.

If you have any interest in this please post up, interest means something will happen. No interest means I will just do this for my own parts needs. Post the kind of parts you are interested in and I can confirm if it is available down there.

Currently I only get parts from Colombia via a friend down there who has a career and a life. This makes getting parts take many months and shipping is extremely high as we have only shipped via air freight. I also have to Western Union cash and WU takes a 10% off the top. Frank takes paypal, ships by sea in containers to Florida, that means shipping will be much more affordable than anything I have done previously.

What about brake drums? We don't seem to have a good replacement source here in the states, would these be available down there??

A waterproof distributor cap and rotor would be awesome (or two). If prices are not too bad spares of water pump and fuel pump would be good too.

Any big bulky stuff for 160series I would be interested in rear bumper mounted tire carrier! Although shipping to Canada would probably double shock me

Member Pancho used to travel to Colombia from Ecuador a few times, and was able to source some spares like the ones RMP&O has mentioned. Some of the spares could be locally produced. I think Colombia is by far the best place to find spares, since the Patrol has developed a cult status there over the years, and many Patrols are still being used as daily drivers, and commercial transportation in rural areas.

Pancho, unfortunately no longer a Patrol owner, purchased for me a water pump in 2011, and later on a rear wheel brake cylinder. I installed the water pump in 2012 and has been working fine. I had to use a grinding wheel to chop some of the outside casting since it was with some interference with the thermostat housing. I have not yet installed the brake cylinder, which is also cast iron. I have a strong feeling that both were produced in Colombia.

From Pancho's experience, he had a mixed one with aftermarket synchro rings he purchased in Colombia, until he was able to source the originals in another trip.

Yes brake drums should be available. You can turn yours down though if they are not worn beyond the limits.

Wheel cylinders are available, same brand as can be bought in Australia. Yes on synchros. Floor mats are simply custom made down there, available but I need to find out more on these.

Yes there is some available, it is just generic stuff though that works well on Patrols.

Yes complete assembly is available, I have purchased before and it is good quality. It is all metric thread so doesn't work with USA adjuster, you will need the metric adjuster too but that is available also. I suggest the whole assembly, from draglink to pitman arm to tie rods. Really improves these old trucks.

The only parts I am aware of that are made in Colombia are body parts. No mechanical parts are made there as far as I know. Synchro rings are only made by one company worldwide, made in Taiwan if I recall right. OEM synchro rings been NLA for a long time, Pancho must have found some NOS ones. Lower quality aftermarket parts are going to be made in India and Taiwan. Lot's of Japanese parts available down there though. And lot's of OEM/NOS stuff comes up all the time.
