Rear brake cylinder question. Was going to install my new rear wheel cylinders, shoes, and retainer springs.
I searched a little and didn't see what I have run into.
The slot in the backing plate is wider than the offset in the brake cylinder. Is this correct?
This picture is not the best, but you can see the shoulder on the back of the brake cylinder and the wider opening in the back plate. Is the cylinder supposed to fit loose so it can move front to rear as needed? Anybody have pictures of your setup?

It's alright. It is a "floating" roll. It may not have more two pistons.

That's correct. The rear wheel cylinders are held in with a series of tension clips. It allows them to 'float' a little.
Beyond any hope for intervention

And shim?
My clips are in pretty rough shape and shims broke upon removal. We made some shims based on the clips, but not sure how thick the stack up should be. Now, given the info above, we will try to get things back together.

They rear brake adjusters were rusted pretty bad. Broke parts of the them trying to get them freed up. Don't have pictures yet, but any ideas where to get replacement parts? Anybody have an extra set they are willing to part with?

Im supposed to pick up a set of axles from a guy one of these days. I don't need the adjusters so if they are in good condition I can send them your way. Not sure when I will be able to pick them up and tear them down for the stuff I need but as soon as I do I will let you know.

I was able to order the retaining plates for the backside of the cylinders from HGM Parts, but they didn't have the shims. They also carry the springs for the rear brakes. It didn't look like they had the adjuster parts that you need. For the shims, seems like those could be made out of sheet metal if necessary. i was actually thinking about 3d printing some out of polycarbonate, but I don't know how long those would last... metal would be better. Sorry, I'm no help on the adjusters.

Just let me know. We are trying to repair what I have. So if we get it back together in the meantime, I'll post up.

Mike,

Sad to read on your other post that you're finally parting out of your two Patrols. We understand how things develop and change over time, and this decision was probably a heartbreaking one for you.

It is very sad for us here at 60Patrol, and the Patrol community, after so many years. Hope you stick around.

Good luck with the sale. I'm sure the new owner will be lucky to have them.
