New Patrol Owner in the Denver area...

Post by Cabaluchi »

Pretty happy to find this group. I just bought a 1964 Patrol that is going to need some restoring. I live in the Denver area...anyone else nearby? Also looking for some parts. I need a new front turn light...gas cap...Patrol logo. Eventually, the plan is to part out the drive train and engine (bent crankshaft) as we are going to be replacing those items. Anyone interested in those? Lmk. Hope to post more photos once the restore gets going.

Welcome to 60Patrol

You'll enjoy this site a lot.

Are you going to install a different engine/transmission combo? What will be your choice?

Thanks. The plan is to stray away from a purist restore and use a modern updated 2000 Nissan Pathfinder as the new chassis/drivetrain/engine. We're going to keep the interior as close to stock as possible.

Welcome to 60Patrol.
I contemplated the later model 2005 up 4.0L and tranny out of an Xterra or Frontier. They will accept an Atlas II transfer case. Then get a set of modern D44 axles cut down to fit the stock width. My dream setup would be this new Cummins 2.8L crate engine. https://cumminsengines.com/repower.aspx I know...$$$! Right?

This will be an interesting project to watch then. I don't know that anyone has attempted another Nissan powertrain yet.

No kidding...money is always an issue. But that crated engine would be nice for sure. Hard to believe we'd be the first to do this. The guy helping me has the equipment and gumption to get it done...it probably won't be ready until next spring, but I'll have plenty of photos to upload along the way.
