Factory winch on a 65

Post by mattmctree@gmail.com »

I recently got a 65 patrol. It has what I was told was a original factory installed pto winch . The winch is a Tulsa winch. I'm curious if what I was told was correct or if it was an after market

The "factory" winches were actually installed at the dealer. In the US, the original winch used was a Koenig. I don't think there were any markings on the PTO gear box to indicate the manufacturer.

Matt, Like RiverPatrol said they were aftermarket items installed by the dealer. My 63 has a PTO winch from that era. I will take some better pictures if you need them in a few days. I'm not sure what brand it is as it stays in a clandestine garage about 20 miles away while it is recovering from 50 years of wear and tear.

Oh ok I misunderstood. I thought the Pro drive assembly was nissan but the shafts and winches themselves were dealer options

I was thinking the actual PTO is from Nissan? They show it in the parts catalog and I think I have seen it in the service manual also.

That is the theory, that the PTO is Nissan. There aren't any stampings on it to identify it. There is no evidence to show that it was an aftermarket item though, like the winch.
