"Beach Patrol" 63/64 Nissan Patrol - LA/CA
Hi everyone,
I have been looking for a project in the last few weeks and considered getting an early Toyota FJ40 or a Land Rover. ( I currently drive a 1971 IH Scout 800 B ). I came across Nissan Patrol's and was immediately hooked. I hunted for Patrol's for sale on nearby Craigslist's and found one close to me to go and look at, I ended up buying it.
This Patrol was previously for sale here last year: http://nissanpatrolusa.com/1964-prescott-arizona/ Seems like not too much has changed since this posting.
I was told that this Patrol was previously used as a Beach Patrol Vehicle.
Side Note: (I also contacted volcan 4x4 about sourcing a project Patrol for me. They advised me not to take on one as a project, and instead buy a fully restored one from them... Where is the fun in that?!)
Yesterday the Patrol was finally delivered.
Good points:
- mostly intact
- minimal rust
- engine turns over and runs (need fuel tank hooking back up)
- I now own a Patrol!
- The 60patrol forum!!
Bad points:
- Rear fender arches have been butchered
- No Brake master cylinder (not sure where to get one)
- not entirely sure that the axles are original...
- sourcing parts!
Anyway, the project now begins!

Welcome to 60Patrol!
Congratulations, you were quite successful in finding a Patrol project. This one will certainly challenge you, it has been quite molested. No, the rear axle is not the original stock axle, possibly Toyota. You might try contacting Specter Off-Road, they had a complete rear diff last year, they might stiff have it.
According the the ID stamp on the frame the Patrol is a '63. It may have been originally sold in '64 and titled as a '64.
What is your intent for this project? If you just want to get it going to make it a beach cruiser again you can go any number of ways. If you want to try to bring it back to original you've got your work cut out for you. Not impossible, but frustrating. Where in LA are you? I'm in Temecula and have a few parts.

Thank you!
I rang Specter Off Road, they are getting back to me in the next couple of days with info.
My intent is to make the Patrol Stop and go! I think it is going to be almost impossible to restore it to it's former glory.
As long as I can drive it on the road and mechanically it works, I'll be happy!!
I'm based in West Hollywood, I actually pick up the Patrol from out by you in Riverside.

Well you should certainly be able to get it to do that without much problem.
