the pictures are fuzzy, but the vehicle looks like a patrol? any other thoughts? If it is, anyone willing to go to N.K. to secure some parts?

The basic shape is similar. I don't think it is though. It looks like one of the Russian vehicles that I can never remember the name of.
And, a Patrol wouldn't have gotten stuck.

RiverPatrol is right again. It is a Chinese knock off of the Russian UAZ 469. Very capable 4 cylinder 85 HP four seater.
