My first G Banger

Hey there fellow G bangerers.. I've just taken delivery of my first Patrol.
It's a welcomed addition to my datsun collection. i have a few 1600's & a180b as well.
I bought this wagon with plans to get it back on the road with Historic Rego (NSW). Needs the usual hydraulics to be replaced & the exhaust. The manifold is abit of a mess , as well as the side pipe.
I'll be sourcing an original set (or equivelant) steel rims & bring this rig back to its former glory.
Here's a few pics. Could anyone tell by the chassis number G60-76686, what year it is ? The RMS search on the plates indicates 1972, but i can't find a compliance plate. Therefore its pre 7/70 right ?

Welcome to 60Patrol! That looks like a nice G60 project. Pretty tidy under the hood. Not sure about the year, maybe someone from down under has more ideas about that.

Certainly it is not a 72. Just the presence of the master vac alone points to a 75 and up.

By comparing your chassis # with others in the Australian G60/61 Patrol Registry, yours clearly ends up being a 78.

Not a bad looking start to a project
The year model is definitely not 72 as after 74 they added the indicators to the front
I have a 71,72,73,74,76 and 78 model ill check the chassis number on my 76 and 78 models to seehow close it is
Also ill be heading down to sydney area next week to pick up another g60 for parts for my swb and have a set of 5 rims to suit yours if your interested
Also i see you have the crank handle with yours and if your not going to use it im interested just pm me and we'll organize something

Its a 78 model just can tell by the body features.

73 was the year they phased in the dual guard lights.
