G'day from not so sunny Western Australia.
I'v been lurking around this forum for a couple of months now, snatching gems of wisdom here and there. Wanna thank you fellas for your hard effort long before I became a G 60 owner. I got this old girl from a fella down in Busselton. He lost a half a leg in Afghanistan and decided that there was way too much restoration work to be done for him to manage it by himself. His father purchased the Trol new back in 1979. When he passed he willed it to his oldest son. That fella added a dual battery system, LPG and a false roof. (It gets mighty hot in Mount Magnet). This old girl sat mainly on a mine site in Mount Magnet WA. About 570 Km's away and yes those KM's are original. His old man was a real cocky, (farmer/jack of all trades) as the photo's speak for them selves.
The old girl has more bog than metal in some places, and the 4B has had additions added as needed. I'm guessing he didn't like the original door setup so he has added his own. Which I must admit is more suited to my needs as well, as my intention is to drive it around Australia soon. With the hope of meeting some good Trol owners who may have one of these sitting out in a paddock somewhere. There are a few small parts that I am having trouble finding and what some people want for a front window frame is bloody ridiculous. I'd have to sell my left testie to get one, and that ain't happening.
I have the original spare wheel carrier, which I have removed so as to add more bog to whats already in the Trol. I hate doing it, but as I am mechanically minded as a bowling ball and never learnt how to weld, presently it is my only option to keep her road legal. I'm adding a Jerry can and LPG holder to the back of it and when the weather permits me to give her a new paint job.
The plugs are out presently as I am about to compression test her. Got to find out if the rings are shot. She's got a God awe full sound coming from the bottom end. New bearing are the go, so a mate is taking her thru the options and hopefully I don't have to purchase a new engine or she will be put back on the market. That's an option that I am dreading as i kind of like the old girl. She kind of reminds me, of me. Falling apart slowly. I'll add more photos if ya want them.
It's been suggested that if I do travel around Australia, that I should video the event and put those Vid's on YouTube. I dunno yet, got to find out if I can fix her first.
