HI EVERY ONE, I WAS WONDERING HOW BIG OF A TIRE WOULD I BE ABLE TO FIT UNDER MY STOCK PATROL? I WAS THINKING THAT 33'S WOULD LOOK NICE.AND IF 33'S WOULDN'T FIT,THEN WHAT IS THE CHEAPEST WAY TO LIFT IT ENOUGH TO GET 'EM IN THERE? ALSO,EVERY ONE IS ALWAYS TALKING ABOUT LOCKERS,AND I WAS JUST WONDERING IF ANY ONE HAS PERFORMED A "LINCON" LOCKER ON THEIR PATROL? ANY THING WOULD HELP,THANKS. CASEY PERRY P.S.IF YOU KNOW ABOUT ANY TYPE OF LIFT,COULD YOU ALSO INCLUDE A PRICE?THANKS

Casey, No matter how "cool" your Patrol would look with 33" tires on it you have to concidered that you may be spending a lot of money to create a gutless wonder. A 33" tire is has about a 15% larger circumference than lets say a 28" tire. This is like changing your rear end ratio from a 4.10 to a 3.45. Depending on where you live, preferably in an area with a lot of flat land, you may not miss the lower gearing. You will gain on theoretical top speed 90mph vs the stock 78mph but you'll find that your using first and second gears a lot more. If this is the way that your are going to go let me suggest that you can make shackles at home to give your self the necessary lift. You will lose the ability to grease the shackle bolts. Each two inches of shackle lift will lift your Patrol one inch. If you have a friend that owns a 4x4 Chevy or Toyota truck with 33" tires on it. Have him to come over and borrow one of the tires to see what problems the 33inchers would be. Good Luck, Gary

Casey, I failed to mention that I have talked to several manufactures about lift lits, shackles and lockers (even ARB in Australia where the Patrol is king) and they all say the same thing. They cannot afford to retool their machine shops to produce parts for the Patrol even if 10% of all the remaining Patrol owners bought them. Try sucking up to your local machine shop to see if they would make a longer copy of your existing shackle and include the ability to lubricate them.
