I’m an old guy. Went to college in the front range of Colorado in the 70’s. I had a friend in Boulder who had a Patrol that we would take up into the mountains, and it blew me away. The winter of 77/78 I drove to California looking for a patrol to buy. Second day in Berkeley I found a low Mileage white, 1966 hardtop... traded in my car, and drove off with my camping gear. I headed back to Colorado, lived in steamboat for two months, to ski, then Wyoming and South Dakota, Nebraska and back to the front range. A buddy and I then did a 4 month camping trip back to the coast, up and down , mountains / desert, the southwest, slowly to New Orleans and ended up in Rhode Island for the summer. The crazy thing is, I never remember being uncomfortable, <G> even on long stretches of turnpike-
My plans seemed to be changing, and a year and a half later I sold the rig. Stupid! In 71 I bought a new fj40 for $3131, that I kept for 14 years. It was nice, but no Nissan patrol.
Now at 72, I’m actively looking for another clean, sorted rig. So I plan on visiting this site a lot. I’m concerned about parts availability, as I don’t have a brother in law in Colombia. I pretty much know every Patrol in the US and don’t want to spend more the the low $20,000 range-
That’s it for now, looking forward to meeting some of you people. Any leads on good patrol, or where to get parts, fire me an email.

Just a little FYI - be very skeptical of a pretty Patrol from another country. Many times they are not what they seem under all of the bling. Mad4hws can attest to that. Don’t hesitate to get opinions from any of us here first.

Thanks River. I do understand the ‘bling thing’. There are a lot of patrols and land cruisers coming up from south of the border, shiny, new seats, and all only driven to the finca on weekends... a few are close to the real deal.
