REAR BREAK CYLINDERS

Hey Gang Well in my quest to do a break job I got all new parts… except the REAR BREAK CYLINDERS. In that NISSAN still has all the other parts (ie Front Left and Right Cylinders, Shoes, Drums) but the REAR BREAK CYLINDERS are discontinued. Therefore I’m looking to buy a used pair of REAR BREAK CYLINDERS. Because I know that mine are leaking, and are most likely pitted so bad that they wont be able to be honed out. Thus a decent pair is something I need. On that note if any of you know of a rebuild kit number for the REAR BREAK CYLINDERS please let me know! Or, better yet, if any of you have come across an aftermarket REAR BREAK CYLINDERS, that would be even better! Thanks a mill! Grant

Actually, if any of you have a pair that are not so great, I would also be intrested, in that in the mean time I can take those to a machine shop and maybe they can drill them out and put in a sleave... Which still leaves me to find a rebuild kit though! Anyway, thanks! Grant

Rear Brake parts aren't in as much demand as some other things so I think you have a fighting chance. Has your Nissan dealer done a Nissan Network search. Most of things I have ordered have come from dealers shelves all over the states, left overs from Patrol days. As you say, Nissan doesn't make or stock parts for the older cars. Other mamber have mentiond that they have parts for sale also Good Luck, Gary

Hey Gary! Yeah, tried the local dealer, and the online one you listed. They did the network search. True, they are not as popular, which is probally the reason they dont exist. Some car companies make parts past the req time.. but only if they are popular. Thus my prob. The only hope I have now is to find a machine shop that can rebuild them, ie sleave them... or a part that is still inproduction from another car that will work... That is problly the way to go, in that there is not that much to them... but finding it is going to be the prob. I think Ill try taking them down to a break shop, see if they got some junked ones laying around that I can compair them to, and then buy new. A real hit or miss situation. But in the long run, it is something we may all be faced with someday Grant

Grant, Email Jeepy. He bought replacement rubber at a True Value HArdware. I tried as well but couldn't find the right part. Jeff has the answer! JIm
