Buffed the door to see what the oem paint will look like when done. Very happy with it!

And with a new fender enroute soon decided to pull off the driver side. Will need a small amount of repair work under here but not bad at all.

Also looking through the spare parts box i found the original ignition cylinder. The one currently in it is a generic one from an autoparts store. They must have lost the keys at some point. Taking the cylinder into a key shop and having some cut for it, hopefully they will work on the doors as well.

Ignition and door keys are usually different.

Stock they're the same. Togo's and the green softy are the same, as is the locking gas cap and rear door.

Guess my 69 had the ignition changed at some point then. I have one ignition key and another key for the doors and cap.

Sounds like it did. New, they had two keys. One worked all the locks and then there was a valet key - the valet key doesn't unlock the gas cap.

It's not about questioning, I merely like sharing the knowledge.

Update time.

Got my new old fender from river, thanks again! Threw it on real quick

Using the original fender for most of the needed patch metal. Started with the other fender.

Pulled the top off and moved it in the garage for some more attention. Love this look.

Image

Addressing bumpers now. Started by removing the home made ones that were on here. They were ugly and heavy.

And for the front I found a oem fj40 bumper locally for $20 that had been pinched. Straightened it out easily and while not correct it will look a million times better.

Also bought a set of oem fj40 steel wheels for this as well, Will look better than the awful wheels on it now.
