Valves?

Really old stuff that got saved. Here are the old Nissan Patrol Club America messages from the 'General' category. Warning, it's dusty in here!

Valves?

I'm looking through the manual i have because i want to adjust the valves and as far as i can tell it doesn't have the piston numbers listed! Is 1 at the front (headlights) or at the rear (steering wheel)? Are the valves adjusted at TDC?

Valves?

Yes,the number 1 cylinder is in the front. The easiest way to adjust valves, start with the number 1 cylinder and turn the motor by hand until you see the intake valve start to open, now adjust the exhaust valve clearance.Turn the motor again until you see the exhaust valve start to open, now adjust intake valve clearance.Repeat on all cylinders, and make a mark on the rocker with a marker so you don't forget any.Don't pay any attention to the marks on the damper.
