American Engines

Really old stuff that got saved. Here are the old Nissan Patrol Club America messages from the 'General' category. Warning, it's dusty in here!

I know of someone who bolted in a 292 Chevy inline 6 right to the same tranny. There was also a guy I spoke with who dropped an International 345 V8 in his Patrol. It's just a matter of what do you want, and how much expertise or cash do you have. The P40 engine has the same bellhousing pattern as all the Chevy V8's and inline 6 cylinders. So that is a start for you if you plan on keeping the tranny. David

You may also want to try the company "Advanced Adapters". They are well known among the jeepers for making bellhousings to fit just about any engine/tranny setup. They may have advise on what combination(s) to start from. I'm very sure there is a website. Good Luck!

I have been told that a Chrysler Hemi (265) is a good conversion. I have also seen a 351 Clevelend in one Patrol. The conversion I'm considering is a Ford 250 (6 cylinder). Marks 4wd Conversions have a Kit available for this swap. I don't know what this engine is called in America but was used in Australia in XD, XE, XF Fords. Richard
