So I was able to find the VIN#'s with your help. The yellow one is in fact L60-07017 and the bronze one is L60-22224.

Cool! L60-07017 is definitely a 1966. L60-22224 is a late 68.5. Now if you could get me the engine numbers I can add them both to the Patrol Registry. Pictures of the frame and engine ID would be amazing also.

Location of the engine number - it's on the same side of the engine compartment as the ID stamped on the frame:

Ok, so the 66 is stamped 67 on the placard since that is the year it was sold, is that correct? I have a Datsun truck that is stamped 61, but the vin corresponds to being built in 1960. From what I've learned with my Datsun, Nissan stamped the placards with the year it was sold back in the days.

I will get you the engine numbers on both of these vehicles soon. Hopefully these photos come through.

Thanks! Yes, it is generally understood the the year stamped on the ID plate is the year it was sold. That's probably why they were fastened with screws instead of rivets. Until '68 that is, there was no field for 'Model Year' on the ID plate after 1967. That ID number falls towards the end of the '66 range, it's ok to call it a '67. Very few differences.

I agree- Just going by the sequence of frame numbers in the registry, a lot of trucks have model years stamped on the ID plate that put them "out of sequence"; so I think it is more plausible that the frame number was stamped in the sequence that the trucks were built, and then the ID plate was stamped and screwed onto the firewall either by the dealers themselves, or by Nissan right before they loaded the Patrol onto the boat as part of a dealer shipment...
