I think it's fair to say that the td42 is an engine that we have idolised here in Aus. It's a 4.2 diesel and available in NA or turbo form. My Mav/GQ Patrol (y60) was originally an NA model, but we have aftermarket turbo kits here that are well and truly tried and tested. I'm running 13psi through it and she tows my 2t boat and is a bit of fun around town.

Regarding the decal - it seems just as aged as the rest of the vehicle, so I'd like to think that it is original. Either way, I've started photographing it and will measure so I can re apply. I'm an absolute fan of the colour scheme :)

One of my challenges will be to track down the fender mirrors and I'm looking out for a MWB fibreglass roof.

Cheers,

JF

Welcome, looks like a great start to a restomod project !

Yup, the TD42 is probably the best 4WD diesel Nissan has made - much more compact than an FD6 truck motor - and with a turbo, uprated fuel pump and a good tune is a proper powerhouse...about the same weight as a P motor, so a great choice if a suitable gearbox/transfer can be mated to it...will be watching the progress on that one for sure

Please keep us in the loop.

Howdy from Arizona Zako,

Sorry to hear that you are suffering from the fever. The first step to recovery is admitting your affliction and join the best support group going, The 60patrol. There is no chance for full recovery but you can strive to maintain a functional level of intoxication. Especially for those who also suffer from the delusions of those engines that burn that stinky oily stuff that don't have spark plugs.

BTW those fender mirrors are available new somewhere just can't recall where I seen them. Maybe someone else on here can remember for me.
