Oh :o

Was there originally a rubber insulation? If not, what prompted you to add one?

Yes, there was originally a rubber shield there. I think it was probably more like a splash shield, or a place for rodents to rest. The original rubber was rotted, an inner tube was my McGuyver solution.

Thank you for the pictures RiverPatrol. The rubber mat makes sense, but I would have never thought about it. You must be well stocked on VC 42s as well. I'm sure National Geographic will be calling you for photodocumentary tips soon.

The really good news is that I have sorta broken the news to my wife that another Patrol is coming our way. I'm off to rent a warehouse....now.

Excited from afar,

From far away in Colorado...I got your back. You can sleep in my camper while we get you "trail ready".

Thank you Plateaucal, you are too kind, I deserve much less.

Actually, as you know there will likely be two new Patrols in our immediate future. I now have a full shop here with a lift, welder etc, pretty much everything needed to build and paint vehicles. Hopefully we can complete our deal on the Canyon Patrol then determine where to glue it all back together and find out if it will run. It can't stay here as the shed only has room enough for one Patrol plus all the equipment. That Patrol being P1.

Thank you RiverPatrol, that looks like a working connection. I can't recall its function specifically but I do know the motor doesn't run smooth with it disconnected.

I'm trying to get the Canyon Patrol in the boat. He is on the line but not in the boat. I think I'll need to get strapped into my fighting chair for this one but I'm already reaching for the strap.

I'm pretty sure the two lines to the air cleaner are simply for venting the distributor. Since it's water protect it also doesn't get any air flow. I'm assuming anyway. If you don't have something on the connectors on the distributor it leaves it susceptible to water getting in, defeating the water protect purpose.

I thought I saw you post that Canyon Patrol was sold and being picked up over the weekend? I think that one will be the most challenging project you've taken on.
