My J13 has the same part

The collar gives the manifold a tight fit to the head.

In addition to Keith's comments, it will help preventing the manifold gasket from blowing in the long run. Could be installed without, but you'll have to keep an eye on tightening the bolts once in a while.

So I am going to resurrect this thread. It's been over year since my last post. But I haven't given up on the project. The motor has been rebuilt now it runs and I plowing through in the body work. Waiting for the temperature in my shop to rise enough to be able to spray primer. Today's question is if anyone know if a set of 65 Patrol doors will work on a 66. They look similar but the the handles are different. Before I make the 5-Hour drive to pick them up I wanted to see if anybody knows if they can be installed on my 66 without difficulty. I assume the hinges will work fine. My question is if the latch / lock assembly will work. Thanks!!

Great that you're making progress! Sorry, the doors are not interchangeable from '65 to '66. Different latches entirely, can't be swapped over to work. Save yourself the trip.

Thanks for the heads-up. Exactly the info I was looking for.

So apparently, the doors I was hoping to acquire won't work for my 1966. Does anyone have a set of doors that they are willing to part with?

Will doors from a '67 work on a '66? If so, I may have an extra set I won't be using.

I found replacement latches for the bodu on my 1967 but the star wheel on my doors was equally screwed up so I am planning some modifications in the future... unless I find some better hardware pieces in the future. It would be easier to maintain the original setup over doing custom.

So project continues slowly but steadily. I have completed much of the body work and now I am starting the door fitting process. I Have a quick question for you all. All four of my door hinges have a slight bend to them. Does anybody know if this is intentional or the result of wear and tear. I can easily straighten them out but before I do want to make sure that they are indeed supposed to be straight.
