Bucky's 67 Restored!

Hey,Check out my 67in the photo album. I am nearly complete with the bulk of my project with minor work remaining. Still need to undercoat, go over breaks, find a passanger side pull handle and a dome for my accessory lamp and I'm sure I will always find more to do. It sure feels good to have it on the road.Bucky

Which kind of door pulls do you have? If they are the vinyl ones I suggest replacing both of them with the door pulls off a Land Cruiser FJ40. The ones from our '78 Fj40 fit the span and looked great, I only struggled with finding a screw that fit the existing threads in the door. They are moulded vinyl with no metal end caps to worry about and are only about $8 each, but Spector (I think that is who I got them from) has a $25 minimum. Let me know if you want the phone # and part #. So now that you are done with this Patrol, what's next? Alex.

Alex,Thanks for the info on the pull handlles. I have the vinyl one. Maybe I'll take your advise if I can't find one. As far as what's next now that it's done? I'll have to find another to restore. Guess I got bit by the Patrol bug:)Bucky

Hot Dang, Bucky, your '67 Patrol looks great! I hope my'69 looks half as good. Did you do the body and paint work yourself? I was wondering what kind of transmission you have in it. Is it the original three speed or is it a Chevy? As far as your next project, might I suggest getting one of the Patrol trucks that Alex will be importing? They look very rugged and very cool.

Bucky, ; Your project looks great.....a true labor of love. Congrats.; ; I noticed your photo installing the 69 Chevy 6. Is there anything written regarding making this conversion? I've heard reference to it but never seen one done. Is it a boltup to the clutch housing? Motormounts match or fabrication refquired? Are there other straight sixes usable or must it be a 69 chevy?; ; Thanks in advance.

I did the body work which was very little because it had a good solid body. I left the painting to the experts, I did the prep and priming. The transmission is the original Nissan.

I have not seen anything written about the conversion. The conversion was on the Patrol when I got it. Originally there was a Chev 283 on it which was a bit wide for the engine compartment. The 250 fits much better. The conversion bolts up to the trans, clutch housing, and the motor bolts up to the conversion. The front motor mounts had to be fabricated. Both the 283 and 250 fit on this conversion so I beleive this one will fit on a number of other Chevy motors. I wish I could be more helpful with the conversion. They must be available out there somewhere.

Say, I always thought my engine was similar to the old chevy stovebolts, but I just never thought it was that similar. It looks just like a chevy engine, just everything is in reverse. So Bucky, how does your 250 stack up to the original Patrol engine. I bet it's alot eisier to find parts for, but is it as powerful? 235 ft-lbs of torque is pretty hard to beat. I found a page you might be interested in if you don't know about it already.; http://www.stovebolt.com/truck/links.htm; It has lots of links for old chevy straight six engines. I was curious as to whether anybody made a tb injection system for these enjines. I think the carb sizes for them are similar to the patrol. Anyhow never found any tb injection system. Anyways, congrats on your patrol it looks great.
