I am looking for a patrol to purchase. What is recomended? What years are better or worse, what problems should I look for? Thanks for you helpKevinwendell1980@hotmail.com

Watchout for the rear axles. I have talked to many people that have broken them. I broke one myself. As for everything else they are just as reliable as anything else. Parts are hardto find so try to buy two.Speck

Wendell,Amen to Specks commentary. I am currently waiting to have an axel shaft made from scratch. It is priced at about what I have been quoted for a 30+ year old used axel. (mine broke in two wheeldrive on paved road.) but uses year 2000 technology. I'll give name and price if and when I actually get it installed. If all else fails I'll go to an axel shop for a shortened Ford or Chev.axel. No parts problem there. Almost all other running parts are do-able. It just takes a hell of a lot of looking.Gary

Left rear axle ,the long side. Mine happened at about 80,000 miles, I still have the pieces. I never throw away my old parts. This happened in "85 and axles were still available here on the West Coast at some Nissan parts wharehouses. I not only did I have to change the axle, but the ring and pinion as well.Mike
