Original air cleaner setup?
I was finally able to secure an original air cleaner and I can see the studs it goes on to on the intake manifold however with it I got this vacuum fed piece with a spring on it and I don't know where that goes or what it does? Also does anyone have a source for the gasket that goes between the air cleaner and the carburetor? This one had part of one on it but the rubber head dried out and it came off in pieces.

Okay, so the thing with the spring you don't need. That was the first attempt at a smog control device starting in '68. The vacuum lines connect to the distributor . You're fortunate that you have the mounting bracket on the bottom of the air cleaner, those are hard to come by.
Beyond any hope for intervention
