Peter60,

Thanks for the write up and the feedback, I appreciate both.

As for the fronts not locking up, you should be good with a 1" especially with a booster, you may need to adjust the pedal or check that the booster is working correctly. Another member installed a aftermarket 1" and it is working great after it was adjusted correctly. You can go with a larger bore if all else fails.

On the rotors, did the machinist put a 45 deg chamfer on the back side? This is pretty critical as the hub is not a 90 deg angle where it transitions so the chamfer allows the disc to sit flush without over boring the opening.

If you need anything you know where to find me.

If the front wheels are not locking and the rears are, you'll loose control in a panic stop. In my case, even though I don't have a disk conversion, I put a limiting pressure valve for the rears when I installed my brake booster. Works very nice.

You are very correct Esteban, as always, the rears must be adjusted as well to get the entire system working well. I hear it takes a lot of work to adjust those rear drums correctly.

Hi Justin. Sorry for late reply I have been travelling for the past 6 weeks.

Re:On the rotors, did the machinist put a 45 deg chamfer on the back side? This is pretty critical as the hub is not a 90 deg angle where it transitions so the chamfer allows the disc to sit flush without over boring the opening..

Yes. He put a 45deg chamfer on it. They fit perfectly.

Re Fronts disc not locking. I think I just need to do some adjustments as you suggested. I'm happy with how they work - much better than the drums - it's just I expected them to lock up. I should have time to look at them next week. I plan to pull them down and inspect them thoroughly to ensure all are aligned etc. I' not expecting any issues.
Not sure if I will get there.
Not sure if I will get back.
But I usually do!!!

A little post on these, received my brackets a few days ago, so I though it post some of my info for those that may need it.. Probably more helpful for the Australians on here as thats where im posting from,

Front end disc brake conversion brackets arrived today, just waiting on the rotors to come back from the machine shop to fit them all up.. 👌🏼

Along with all new wheel bearing and lock nuts & washers

Below is my list of parts, info, and links

Parts List

The links are where I got these items, you may be able to source elsewhere.. Obviously you don't need to do your wheel bearings if yours are in good condition, but as I had no idea how old mine were and they had to come off anyway I decided to do them at the same time, also all my wheel bearing nuts had taken a beating over the years so Im replacing them as well.

Brake Conversion Brackets Pair:
From: jwgreen on the 60 Patrol Forum
Link: https://www.60patrol.com/forum/memberli ... ile&u=1141

Calipers Pair:
From: Amazon
Part Number: RH 18-4208 and LH 18-4209
Link: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07Z37V5M4?th=1

Rotors Pair:
From: ebay
Part Number: DR12249
Link: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/256129096950
Now you need to get these machined, the centre hole needs to be made bigger to approx 107-108mm and have a 45 chamfer on the back to fit snug on the hub, I suggest taking the rotors and hubs to a machine shop to get them machine and test fitted so they are perfect

Brake Pads Set:
From: eBay
Part Number: RDBS728A
Link: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/186216100062

Banjo Bolts x 2:
From: eBay
2 x M10 x 1.5 x 33.9mm Long
Link: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/396758886015

Wheel Bearing & Swivel Hub Kit: 1 kit has everything you need
From: eBay
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/135326503155

Wheel Bearing Nut & Washer Kit (you need to order 2 to do both sides) - Says MQ to GQ 1995 but seem to be the exact correct size for me 1972 G60.
From: All Four x 4 Spares
Link: https://www.allfourx4.com.au/Wheel-Bear ... 23145460K/

54mm Hub Nut Socket: Makes it way easier to undo and do up the nuts.
From: eBay
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/122105369722

Brake Lines:
I haven't got these made yet
But going by the forum post you will need 2 x 400mm long brake lines made up, be sure to get them made with the correct size and type fitting that matches the fitting on your current lines on one end and the other to suit the banjo bolts.

I will post more photos as I install the rest...

Also, obviously you will need to upgrade your master cylinder if your already haven’t, there’s more detail about this on the forum from those who have already done this conversion.

Hope this helps anyone looking to do the upgrade, hopefully we see more shared info on here..
