Won't run? Engine, cooling system, fuel pump, carb, clutch, tranny, brakes, etc. The old messages from the NPCA 'Engine & Mechanical' category are here.

After many weeks I just received three new axle spacers, fresh off the lathe. Now I can hopefully get this Patrol back on the dirt roads of SGI.

What a long, strange trip it’s been….

After breaking an axle shaft several months ago, and my ‘69 Patrol being on blocks since, I’ve learned a lot. And I’m glad to say the Patrol is now back on the road.

What I learned….
-My Patrol did not have any axle spacers or shims installed. Back brakes were installed upside down. Go figure.

What I did….
-Purchase a complete axle assembly from Tres in Utah, $800 to ship via uShip
-Use both axle shafts and backing plates from the donor axle
-Had three axle spacers made, now I have two spares, because, you never know
-Use the downtime to replace leaking wheel cylinders
-Learned a lot from Esteban, and others, on how to proceed

Just glad to be back among the living.

Onward.
Dave
