about 5 years ago this patrol was recued from the forest in upstate NY.
Since it was rescued, it's been sitting in my driveway, much to the chagrin of my neighbors. Recently, we had to do some work on the driveway, so I moved the patrol into the garage. That was it. I couldn't stand looking at it and I certainly couldn't stand the smell of decaying stuff that was in it. So, we cut off the rusty roof, took off the rusty doors and got it cleaned up.
It looks much better, but still really rusty. I do think it is salvagable though. The engine was seized, so I took out the spark plugs and dumped in about 1/2 gallon of penetrating oil into the cylinders. It had been soaking like that for a few weeks. This morning I put the breaker bar on the crank shaft and it turned. Excellent, perhaps this thing can get running without too much additional work. I do need a few things though: #1 a starter? Right now I have a piece of plywood covering the hole that the starter is supposed to goin. This is a 1966 Patrol - Serial #L60-06742. I saw the thread on starters - but was still confused about which one will work on this car. Secondly, I need the upper and lower thermostat housings. Any help on these items would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.
