My 1972 MWB Soft Top - 350 Chev Project

Post by SLYLSG60 »

Hi all, just arrived here whilst searching for advise... damn I've missed forums,

From Melbourne Australia...

Anyway, just purchased this 72, it had been working on a farm unregisterd for the last 15 years in Canberra Australia, someone did a 350 chev conversion a long time ago, it has almost zero rust,

The plan is to strip it down, rebuild the engine, probably go to a 2WD and a turbo 350/400, I have a diff out of a chev truck to go in, Tidy up the body and re paint in and out and end up with a good summer cruiser..

First off was to remove also the stuff that had been added on over the years, then remove the body from chassis and pull the motor and trans, so I can get the rolling chassis to the sand blasted and get it blasted, epoxied and re painted

I'll post photos as I go,

How I purchased it

Day 2; Got it home and remove a lot of the old stuff that had been added

Day 7; Body off, a few hours of pressure washing

Busy couple of days, removed engine, trans & shocks..

Also removed the doors and 50 years of added on screws & bolts

Chassis can go off to the blaster now, blast, epoxy then paint,

Body will go to media blast and then into epoxy before body work

Nice work. What type of sealer or coating or you planning to use after it's sand blasted?

I'll be using Satin black KBS RustSeal, recomended by my paint & panel guy

KBS RustSeal is a single component high-solid content, rust preventive coating / rust paint / sealer. It is impervious to road salts and almost every chemical. RustSeal self levels out to a smooth rock-hard finish that resists chips and scratches.
