Detroit locker in HD rear end....

I am searching for a HD rear end and driveline found in the H model Patrol for my custom 64 project.. This is the H260 rear end model and not found in the USA. I have heard it will accept a Detroit locker and was wondering if anyone outside the USA could confirm this for me?? If so do you have the model number of the locker, is it a LSD or full lock?? Thanks!

Howdy Hector....how is Japan treating ya!? I had forgot this one, now I remember hearing this rumor also. I have mixxed feeling about an ARB airlocker, some peeps say it is a POS and others swear by them....most don't have any probs or complaints with a Detroit. I only have limited experience with a Detroit and non with an ARB. Also we are talking about just the HD rear end or both light and heavy duty rear ends?? The ARB sounds interesting to me and heck any sort of locker in a Patrol is better than none at all.....I suppose emails to ARB USA are in order. Anyone out there have a Pathy and a Patrol?? By any chance would you happen to have an ARB in your Pathy and have both the Patrol and Pathy diffs out of rigs so you can compare for me!? Just kidding....

Hello FUD, actually japan is very nice, but a littlecold.Lets tell you somthing, i already was in KitakiushuNissan Plant, and the people in charge of our trainingtold me that the patrol has been builded in YokohamaPlant near Tokyo since 1950, and i get someinformation about the first Prothotype, including apicture that in near future i am going to ad inpictures seccion, and a whole development history ofthis model, but in Japanese (KANGI) so it is going totake some time to translate this.But I got a Number phone for general affairs andcustom service that could works. Hey Hector! You should try Wyoming in January for cold....I think it is -15 outside right now, so cold your spit freezes before it hits the ground! Seriously cool stuff you are doing in Japan....can't wait to hear/see more!! Not suprised about nothing for us USA folks.....it seems Nissan kinda wants us to forget about our Patrols here....just let them die is the additude I have got from Nissan America. Which is odd because they keep doing photo shoots of Patrols here in the USA for advertising, less than perfect Patrols I might add. I have no idea why they continue to shoot photos of cut up Patrols with fat tires when plenty of pristine ones are out there. I can count on one hand the peeps in the USA who work at Nissan and give a hoot about Patrols.....USA consumer affairs told me they are unaware of a Patrol ever being sold in the USA, talk about ignorant! And daily our problems with parts get worse and worse....hopefully in the future I can at least aid in getting rid of this problem. Possibly some other people who love the Patrol will also help to get rid of our situation here in the USA.....hint, hint Your comments are duely noted about the ARB, I have never used one and just based my opinions on feedback from friends.

Hello, fud.I hope never being 15 under 0, i will try wyoming butin summer..OK fud, lets tell you something, in Colombia, southamerica it is not to dificult to get parts forpatrols, and i think is pretty cheap, of corse most ofthem are not original nissan parts, body parts aremade in colombia, if you chek the pictures of my redRogelio in pictures seccion, you can check the body,it is 90% colombian parts, the only original one isHood, all body price is about 650 american dollar, orless dcepending on discounts, (plus tax 16%) andmechanical parts for engine gear box and suspentioncould be from japan, india, Malasya and Taiwan, thequality.. lets say... 80% against original parts, andto keep the patrol original, some times no problems,but some times the parts fit and work perfect, butdiferent year or a little bit different.Anyway, when i will be in colombia i can help you, asa matter of love for patrols not busines, so feel freeto ask me, and i can get all the information for you,and if cheaper i can send the item to you in advance.I have some frends in my 4x4 club owneing a patrol,one of them is Juan Ricardo Pabon (67 blue nissanpatrol allready posted at picture seccion, and thereare others from 71 73 and 80, so we can compare someparts, and as a matter of fact here in colombia thiscar still in use as a daily car drive, so you can see20 or 25 every day in the street, and in the normalparts shops you can find many parts.If you wants i can send you (in febrary) phones numberor address of this shop, but remember, only spanish.Ok fud, by and enjoy the weather....je je..Hector. --- Fud escribi: > Weattempted to deliver this message to you with> HTML formatting. Yes Wyoming much nicer in summer if you don't like the cold....usually in the 70's-80's so not to hot and not to cold Very intresting about the parts....here in the USA we go to our Nissan dealer and they check on the part, if it is not available then we have very few choices. One we can keep trying to get the part from Nissan but you have to do things like I have done....contact Japan directly, a bit of a big ordeal. Aftermarket parts do not exist here, you can find things that fit but it is basically trial and error. Body parts do not exist other than off old used dead Patrols and no body parts have been available for a long long time. I took a close look at your Red Patrol and I can not tell that those body pannels are not stock, are they steel or fiberglass??? As you can probily tell from reading around this board rebuilding things like the P engine can be very hard to do throughly for us USA people. Some aftermarket things are available from Australia but even those are limited....it seems that even in Australia the Patrol is becoming rare and most people down there convert them so parts tend to be orientated torwards conversion. I have 3 Patrol projects, two 64's and a 66 so parts is near the top of my list for priorities. I would love to talk to you more about parts when you get home in Febuary.....beyond the normal things needed to rebuild a Patrol I am looking for some parts never sold in the USA, like the HD rear end. I know/knew that you guys down there got tons of Patrols over the years including the early models, 4W60 and so on. Also your culture is more practicle so it doesn't suprise me people are still using 60 series Patrols for daily transportation. I can wait until you get home in a month or so....in the meantime sounds like I need to work on my spanish Thanks Hector....not sure if you know just how much a source like you can help us USA people.... WOW! Hector! This is great news! They still make body parts down there?! WOW! Hey.. defintally keeps us posted! Espically if you know of a place down there that has an internet sight... AND is willing to ship to the states!! Tell them they could probally make a good chunk of change if they could post a parts list and shipping prices here at our sight! Grant

Hello Ian, first of all lets tell you that this partsare steel made and fit really well, the onlydiferences with the original ones are that this oneshas not welded nuts and the holes some times are nottoo accurate, but this not means any problem to somebody with some expirience like you, and pretretmentagainst corrosion could be not to good.But enough,On the other hand, about the hd rear end, lets tell iused in previous year a 84 160 MK patrol, wich use thesame engine P 40, and had HD rear end, it was reallynice but i think it is not necesary, It use 7 or 8springs (Sorry i dont know the name in english ) andthe axles are, as far as i remenber, 1.29 inches andit has 29 or 30 lines spindels, te red one, i mean the80 has the standart and 33 x 12 all terrain tires, andnever has been a problem, of course i don abuse ofthembut my friend Juan Ricardo (67 blue nissan) used toput engine at 3000 RPM and sudenly relese the cluthe,finally he broke left axle, He got the new one fromindia but in local market for 38 dollars, now almosttwo years of very hard adventures and no problems.Any way it is posible to get the complet rear end insecon hand market for about 400 dollars. it supouse tobe in good condition, but better check it.OkI will be in contact.Hector. _________________________________________________________Do You Yahoo!?Informacin de Estados Unidos y Amrica Latina, en Yahoo!
