Oil Pan Brackets

Won't run? Engine, cooling system, fuel pump, carb, clutch, tranny, brakes, etc. The old messages from the NPCA 'Engine & Mechanical' category are here.

Oil Pan Brackets

Post by npca-danetteandkeith »

Hey, Can anyone tell me what the brackets on the bottom of the oil pan are for? There's a short one in front of the sump with 2 holes and the one in the back extends down 3" or 4 " also with 2 holes. I was looking to reroute my exhuast out behind the drivers rear tire. I see some of the original brackets going that way, but was not sure if the pipe crosses under the the oil pan or the tranny or where? Thanks,Keith

as far as i can tell the brackets are for a skid plate (which i do not have either) and the exhaust is routed under the passenger side door/floor and then crosses just in front of the rear differential. not sure if it has to have a "hump" bent into it to clear the drive shaft (as the sway bar does). i had enough of the system left to be able to tell you as much as i have but that is it! good luck, let me know if you find out anything for sure.
