windshield operation?

I was wondering if the windshield can be lowered while the hardtop is installed?

That would not help gas milege!!!
I can only imagine it might be possible but you would at least have to undo enough bolts to articulate the windshield past the upraised visor section of the top.

I don't think that would fair so well...you'd have to open the back doors and side windows to allow airflow or it would probably tear some things up. I realize you aren't traveling much over 45 in these beasts but could still wreak havoc.

Sounds good. I needed to know because I am in the process of repairing the rust on the header bow of the hardtop. In order to set the bow in the correct location I need the hardtop on the patrol in the correct location. Then, once marked I will lower the windshield in order to repair and fiberglass the rust areas. I won't be driving it with the windshield down. thanks for the info.

This is a long shot, but I thought I'd ask anyway. My hardtop is missing the corner bracket on the drivers (left side) - where the windshield/driver door, and hardtop meet. The passenger side corner bracket is there and fits fine. The drivers side one must have rusted or broken off years ago. does someone have a spare corner bracket? It would save me time then trying to recreate it through fabrication. Just thought I'd ask.

This is my braket I banged out (I did it and knew nothing but had to do it)....photo before welding.

You may need to deal with the rails over door also.

The shortcut to this is.....take the top off....try, or maybe try to take just the cap off and leave the walls....10 bolts I think. They might be a pain but fixing anything to do with the roof is easier on a table than above your head. I imagine you would then need to replace the headliner too....again easy and more accurate on the table. If someone is doing this for you then be careful....they maybe doing what is protocal for other cars but I think this will take longer and be harder. Just look in the parts book at the exploded drawing of the hardtop and see what I mean.
