69' Arizona Patrol

Picked this 69' Patrol up a month or so ago and just now getting around to do some work on it. Has original engine, and is virtually rust free. Came with what I believe are the original front seat frames, no rears. I believe I have troubleshooted it not running or starting to the distributor. Get power to the cap but no spark to the plugs. The distributor looks pretty rough inside, are these able to be rebuilt or is it smarter just to get a new one. If so, where? I'm not very mechanically inclined but I'm trying to learn so I apologize for any future dumb questions I may ask. Feel free to ask any questions about it and I'll answer them as best as I can. No need to apologize, and every question will be answered by many of the members. Apologies only for politically inclined questions.

Part for the waterproof distributor are basically unobtanium. Unless you're looking forward to do some serious fording, the easy route is installing the following distributor:

It will mention that it fits the P40 engine. Your Patrol has the P engine. The other is a slightly newer iteration with minor changes. This distributor will fit, and a few other members have gone this route.

Another option with your distributor. If the cap is in good condition, you can install a Pertronix kit, and get rid of the points and condenser which are again, unobtanium. A good cleaning inside the distributor, some oiling, and might be all that you need. The good thing at the moment is that there are options.

There's a couple of options start with the points, are they opening and closing when the distributor is turning? Pertronix sells a pointless kit for these, another option is to buy a new dizzy form a nissan forklift. Start with the basics... power, ground ect.. I'm not sure if stock points are still available. I know many points wear the rubbing block out before the point pad is gone.. very common problem.

Couple more pics. The points are opening and closing when the distibutor is turning. the wires look a lil shotty, and there is a lot of rust as you can see.

And, yes I do have the contact point that goes on top of the screw on the distributor, I just had it off for the pictures.

Rip that crude out of there and replace with this electronic doohitchy we have lots of info on here....just search pertronix .....you have a waterprotect diz (3-screws vs 3 clips on cap) so you need a #1763. Good luck.

if it's hot to the cap check the condenser, how are you determining you have spark up to the cap? Is ther power on your coil? coil could be shot.
