Brand new parts book

Wade, I hope I didn't step on your toes here. That wasn't my intention at all and I apologize if I did. Don't want anyone to think im a hoarder or a pirate or something. I ran into the same issue trying to buy it on ebay that you did, but I had talked with the guy before so I guess I had an "in" not available to you.

No worries, though. Like I said in my earlier post I have no intention of bogarting that book. I think your idea is awesome and am going to do just as you suggested. I hope anyone interested can tell by looking at the quantity of stuff I've uploaded that Im all about the patrol community.

Man that makes me feel a lot better! I don't want to rock this boat in any way and was concerned I'd maybe tipped it over...

On another note, about this parts book... the doc # is C-0060L. When I was perusing the archives earlier I read through what i ended up thinking of as the great "Sooper-Secret-Japanese-Connection-Sacred-Microfiche-Key-to-Long-Lost-Patrol-Parts-Cache" hubbub. The fabled microfiche referred to doc # C-0061L, iirc. So I have two questions for the folks who were around then... 1. Does anyone know the difference that one little digit makes between the two manuals? And 2. Could parts still be ordered using the numbers from either of the manuals? ...or have they all been exhausted? (I realize that was 3 questions, lol).

The difference in the doc numbers is most likely just a revision difference. Parts books are frequently updated when part numbers are superseded. With the older style ring bound parts books, the parts manager would receive a packet of the updated pages only. They would pull out the old page and insert the updated page.
You can still use the part numbers to order parts. That's one nice thing about having the latest edition of the parts book; you've got the latest part numbers. Now, whether the parts are actually available is an entirely different story.

Scanning this particular parts book would be pretty time consuming and frustrating. This is because is it a hard binding, not like other parts books that the pages are in ring binders. With the glued binding of this one you are going to have to break the binding (ruining the book) to be able to lay the pages flat enough to scan them.

I have the microfiche that (I think) this book is printed from. I looked in to converting it years ago. I could research it again to see if is an option.

I got the 1980 Microfiche several years ago from ebay & also looked into converting it to cd. Back then it was way too expsensive, so i picked up a microfiche reader super cheap. Tech world has changed alot since then, so converting should be cheaper, but like you said with a cd you have to clean up to use the computer in the house.
