Really old stuff that got saved. Here are the old Nissan Patrol Club America messages from the 'General' category. Warning, it's dusty in here!

Hi fud,   The Nissan carrier or the 1 ton as its commonly called is as common as apple pie in america, although its being phased off now.It uses the sames motor as the patrol but with a 4 Speeder(7.13:1 first low) and the same transfer case. The PTO drive as at the same position as its on the patrol and it usually drives the winch which cames in about 30% 1tonnes.Later some of them came with 4liter diesel kiloskar engine to but were discontinued as they were not as good as high altitudes.About 90% ! tons used by the military are servung at high altitudes where it is almost imposible to get bigger trucks because of narrower road which due to being covered with snow thruoghout the year cannot be covered with metaled roads, and there's no point making metaled road in the first place.its no easy to remove 4 feet of snow from the entire stretch of the highway every day.And also, since india has the highest battlefield in the world,Seichin, where there has been a constant war going on for the last 25 years,it is very important to get suplies to the soldier and non-turbo deisel trucks just cannot get going,so the 1 ton comes into play over there.     It is almost a carbon copy of the ww2 dodge m37's,and the engine used on the 1962patrol(the p40,or whatever its called),was designed for this truck(first it was a side valve motor),and as reports have it,the patrol is just a norrowed down version of the nissan carrier,so no wonder it is so bullet proof.   And yes, lest i forget to tell you, because of the weight, the 6.11:1 final drives and the 8.75x20 tires, and most importantly ,the never bothering, heavy footed army personnel behind the wheel,it returns just 7miles/gallon.  Regards, Brutus
