I gave cows for my Patrol...lots of cows

I had a bad hard top too. It sat outside on the ground for too long. I did not have any welding skills nor a welder so I decided to do something...better than nothing. I cut out all the loose rust, used a rust converter, then fiberglassed, primed, painted. Not perfect, I have one little bubble where I goofed but cost was 175 dollars and its done. The support over the doors were gone and I epoxied two pieces of aluminum angle to "remake" them. I took a welding class and have a welder now but I still think I made an invaluable move. Metal is always better but....

it´s nice, and you just gave me the best idea, change all the metal of the top (weights like a half ton) and put a aluminum sheet ...

Nice! I have never seen the rear lower edge of the tub removed and repaired before. Amazing work! It's all coming along very nicely, you should be proud.

Thank s i decide to make it new because it was really bad. Its made of 3/32" (2.5mm) plate, so i expect another 35 years before i change it again, more pictures of the progress and now some paint








What do you think about the green tone? looking good for the patrol?

anybody has a picture or drawing to know where and how the springs were located?

I like the green color, too. Good going working on the rear door latch. I've had those apart before as well. Some come out okay and some are more difficult. They are made of brass which is a pretty soft metal so it's easy to screw them up. I'll have to look to see if I have a loose door latch mechanism to get a picture of for you. I can see that your round tension spring is there, so I'm not sure what would be missing. Since your Patrol is a 1974 the latch would be the same as our (USA) 1968 and 1969 Patrol latches.

I like that green too! Somewhat more green than Sea Foam which Nissan used!
