It was a while ago and I was fairly young - but I think the bearings gave way and the half-shaft from the rear axle worked it's way out. I'll ask Dad at some point.

All G60's sold in Australia (except the Deluxe Hardtop) were soft tops. The hard tops you usually see are fiberglass aftermarket tops in a lot of cases supplied to the dealer and fitted at time of purchase.

Excellent pictures Jawapro! Many thanks for sharing them with all of us.

Maybe you can tell us about what proportion of Patrols were SWB vs. MWB as we normally see in Australia.

Not sure what you are looking for.

Both Dad's were shorties.

I have 1 shorty, 3 MWBs, 2 extended MWBs, and 1 extended LWB.

Most of the wagons I've seen have been MWB - with a couple of SWBs. Utes are harder to tell, as they've often been stretched anyway.
