Regarding Valve Adjustment: If you place CYL 1 at TDC, the following valves (from front to back) can be adjusted without turning the engine: 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, 9 With CYL 6 at TDC: 4, 5, 7, 10, 11, 12 I learned this by looking at the P40 engine manual. Esteban

So I set the valve lash hot and though the cold setting was off by a few thousand more than the .15 recommended, the difference was surisingly minor. Does not seem to have made any difference in terms of the elususive miss.The engine starts and runs very well otherwise. I did notice that the rocker arm assembly did not have a lot of oil - is this normal? If not, any ideas re cause?

How bad is this miss? It sure sounds like you've covered everything. Have you checked each plug wire and spark plug for spark? It really sounds like you're down to something real simple.
