Re: My new to me 65
Yes Sir, i have them all priced out of AU. i emailed the guy before i bought it. i knew what i was getting into. I feel safer putting new components in. I'm going to be changing all the rubber to steel braid with AN fittings. I think i have the front figured out at 3/8 x 24 IF but i need to check out the rears. One of the guys posted a pic in a request for info on another thread. Do you know if the rear soft line are the same size. I haven't checked the rears and i don't know how the layout is yet. Is it a single line running to the driver side with a split off to the passenger side? This is how i remember most rear brake setups. I'm really comfortable working on this, I used to be a mechanic in my younger years in Whittier. I'm from Covina born and raised. How are things out at the 15, 215 split?

The rear soft line is different than the front line. It comes off of a hard line junction coming from the splitter near the master, on the other end it connects to another splitter bolted to the rear diff housing that diverts to both rear wheels.Socalwrencher wrote:...Do you know if the rear soft line are the same size. I used to be a Service Advisor in Whittier in a past life.
Things are quiet at the split right now, but give it a few months. It's been a very dry year and as soon as the winds start up in October it could get very exciting, and warm.

Norville, he does upholstery, but i don't know much about him. The top he made came out really really nice. It really makes it stand out and it gives it some nice clean lines. I can't wait to get this brake situation done so i get some miles on her.

River, so this soft line do you know the dimensions on it? End sizes? Service guy huh, where at. I worked right next to BDS, I used to deal with them all the time, sometimes i miss those days. I don't miss the heat in the middle of the summer.

Brake line dimensions were in brain cells that haven't been retained...Socalwrencher wrote:River, so this soft line do you know the dimensions on it? End sizes? Service guy huh, where at. I was probably there before your time, and I will date myself by revealing this: I worked at Sun Datsun. Yes, Datsun. It was right next to Lee Wood VW and a block away from a really awesome bar who's name I've forgotten. To my age benefit, I wan't even drinking age yet.

I'm going to have to agree with you on dating yourself, Thanks for all the great help. I'm pretty much online all day because of work. I wanted to run something by you, how would i be able to send you a .pdf? I'm looking for an opinion.

When you are viewing a picture in the Gallery, underneath will be a couple lines that are links to the picture. Copy the one that says 'Image-URL'. Then, when you are composing the post click on the 'Img' BBCode button at the top of the post. Put your cursor in between the 2 Image tags [img]picture%20link/URL%20goes%20here[/img] and paste in the URL you copied. You can preview the post before you submit it to make sure it looks okay, using the 'Preview' button next to the 'Submit' button.Socalwrencher wrote:I added some pics of the interior, but i don't know how to get them to show up like the others in the first post.
The interior isn't too bad. The hand brake boot looks brand new! And here's something interesting, according to the VIN your Patrol is already in the US Patrol Registry! From a previous owner back in '06.
