I wouldn't suggest trying it. If it's for a G61, MK and MQ - those had the P40 engine. The starter isn't cross compatible. The picture doesn't even look like the started for the P engine.

River,
I would like to give up on it but see a chance
this different attempt, #23300-C0600 will work.
This is the shot of the original Patrol starter in the back and my first mistaken try in the foreground, which
is for the P40. Notice the rim or ring to the left of the pinion......only 1/4" depth from the face where starter mates with bell housing. Original has that ring + another 1/2" from face.

The one we are more recently discussing has this 1/2" feature. The shots I see are not a good angle to tell but a call is needed anyhow, or a purchase/return attempt is needed, to verify the throw or movement forward of the pinion. Obviously the first attempt has a short shaft and could not reach the fly (you dirty old man Tim!

). My hope is that this one below will reach but need a willing seller to measure by pulling the gear forward and see how much it travels.....throw.

I don't need a starter but is this a possibility?
I measured the OD of the Pinion/Splines OD: at exactly 1.157" on my original Patrol starter. Same as this one.

Another piece of info that leads to possible starter or magnetic switch. This states that this solenoid fits our Nissan Patrol starters #23300-43301. Obviously, some mistakes happen crossing #'s and this does not have the mounting flange nor the same arm connection. Could the original parts work or a mod?

Also noticed this guy site sells the S114-184 as a G60 fit.? The info is contradicting but once again I see possibilities to follow through with.

This same starter is sold in the states too.

Referring to this old post, will the #23300-C0600 (or 18110) PN work on my 76 patrol? I see the differences in the picture and understand about the "throw" and # of teeth. Was this resolved? Any idea where I can get a new starter or would I be better off getting the one I have rebuilt, possibly?

A few times this topic has come. The answer is yes. It will be the same as yours. I have the following link saved:

Thanks Esteban. I re-read the post and figured as such. It is the early models (pre-74?) that might have the compatibility problem, I think. Thanks for the help!

Although the starters are different, they are fully interchangeable. I’ve done that.
