Unless that FJ40 has a 350 in it, you don't have anything to worry about. Side by side, a stock Patrol has at least 1o more HP than the FJ. I have had the experience of wheeling alongside a stock '73 FJ40: it could not keep up with the Patrol both in power and maneuverability. He had to put an LSD in the rear just to be able to climb the same things I was climbing with the Patrol. 
Driving up winding mountain roads was no competition at all.
