My local parts guy and I have been doing some research. He's come across matching part numbers for the L/H end for MQ and G60. He's ordered me one in to take a look at. It might be useful for parts. If it's the same we also found that the 79 series land cruiser tierods have the same pitch although different thread but again might be useful for parts.

As mentioned you can use a RHD tie rod or whatever to rebuild yours. If you search Ebay.australia for G60 Patrol tie rods still show up for G60 Patrols. Not sure what that means though since Tim says they are no longer available.


In Colombia you can still get LHD tie rods. Thing is they are metric thread where as the N. American Patrols are not. All tie rods available today are going to be the metric thread since only the early trucks were not. So I end up replacing the entire assembly with the metric stuff. I purchased tie rods, drag link and pitman arm as an assembly from Colombia awhile back. Quality is good and parts fit perfect. Drag link rebuild kits also available down there.

I agree with Esteban about the funky 160-series steering, I also removed it from my 83 long ago. However, the reason for it is to keep the drag link level. A level drag link means a truck that handles nicely. When your drag link gets at an angle you get bump steer. The more of the angle, the worse the bump steer will be. This is why people use high steer kits when they do a spring over axle suspension.

I'm afraid they will not for two reasons:

1. They will be with metric threads, and the Patrols here in the States have Standard threads. I don't think you'll be able to use the guts of the new one into the old tie rods. Please take a look at this thread, with the process of repairing (basically taking the slack) of the tie rods.

2. I used to have a MQ Patrol, and the tie rods were completely different. The listing shows application for both models.
