if you are good with a cutting torch it is possible to cut a nut away from a threaded shaft without buggering the threads. this won't be as easy because you will have blowback slag to deal with. but it can be done. i like Swerve's idea if you have a drill that will get to it. a dremell tool with a cutting blade might work too, if you have a flex shaft to go with it. i have one and love it. i would cut two slots on opposite sides, and it should cause no problems coming off.

I like Miller, Swerve and Sleepyzzz ideas. If you can drill a hole, try using a rounded tip cold metal chisel. A good blow with it in the hole could split open the nut.
However, I have a big concern. If due to the damage or wear of the bearing the hub was able to grind the nut, so to speak, what other problems you might find inside, that are possible beyond repair. The bearings could have rotated in the spindle. In addition, you'll need some fresh parts that can add up in cost significantly. But I guess you'll want to know it anyways. Otherwise, use option 1. It's going to take the least amount of time.
