I think I might be able to answer my own question.... is it the little holes along the sides of the body tub...? Are these where the side canvas panels attach to the tub?

Yes, the little holes along the sides of the tub. Also, the lower rear door handle is missing: the original soft top handle for a '66 was easily broken, and are missing or broken from most early soft tops. And yes, the body color interior and engine compartment. I know it's been repainted, but the windshield frame doesn't look like it was repainted, and the rear seat frames.

I never said I was impressed with the vehicle. The reason I find this auction so interesting is because the quality of the advertising is as if it were the '69 in TX, or the '79 from Colombia. The vehicle seems mechanically sound, and is a prime candidate for taking out and playing with in just the condition it's in now. I'm interested in seeing how far the advertising will take it.

that is one i would buy if i were in the market. Ryan you better show this one to your doctor friend. i wonder how high it will go? guessing somewhere close to $15 or a little over if he is lucky. In these hard times play toys are not bringing as much, and there aren't as many in the market to buy, but there are still enough deep pockets around to generate a sell if it is presented like this, and offered on a site that everyone goes to when they are looking to buy.

It will be interesting:

A) to see if it hits the reserve price

B) whether or not the reserve is five-figures


My opinion stands- if this one has a 10,000+ reserve price, and he gets it, then that is a FANTASTIC boost for the value of Patrols in general, and it is also going to mean that Dave (Fijiland) got an absolutely SCREAMING deal on his a few months back...

I was going to comment on the sudden enthusiasm, but I won't.

The nicknames are merely to keep track of the herd, a reference.

Don't get me wrong, I think this Patrol has a lot going for it. Look! Uncut rear fenders! The body is in great condition, no major dents and no visible cancer rust. Okay, so it's got some holes drilled in it here and there where POs added stuff, whatever, it doesn't detract from it's usability. This seems to be a turn-key, trail-ready Patrol, which is more than most of them can say.

And I already believe Dave got a screaming deal on his '69.

Yeah, between that, the bitchin' rope wrapped around the front bumper, AND the Don Julio box, my opinion of this one is rapidly shifting from "cool" to "very cool"...

- To me the Shifter and Handbrake boots don't appear to be the originals
- Does anyone else know what that plaque is on the firewall where the 4wd System Instruction plaque usually is ?
- I don't really like the Wooden Door trim pieces.
- It looks like someone has re-routed the fuse panel and loom slightly in the engine bay, and No Generator like Grunty.

- Look in a few of these pics, you can see it was photographed in a shed as there is a brick wall in the windows

Apart from that is one sick patrol with awesome photos to boot

Yeah, you can darn-sure bet that any future "Patrol for sale" listings by me will include a Don Julio box... - seems to be a good luck charm in attracting bids

When I read through the list of repairs they had done to get this one road-worthy, I was very impressed...

The parking brake was probably a 500-600 dollar repair, and rebuilding the rear axle? 4-figures I would guess (especially with the custom machine work they call out)

$700 dollars (wholesale cost) in tires, and countless hours cleaning, etc. - few hundred bucks there. I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't several hundred hours (and several thousand dollars) into this one, on top of whatever they paid for the vehicle to start...
