Nice clean looking rig... That diesel looks like it was born in there.

Have been slowly ordering parts for the patrol and have now replaced broken headlight and door mirror, and fixed horn. Am waiting on windscreen washer kit, 12v hairdryer(will be my windscreen demister) and number plate light. Have noticed U-Shackles on front left side diff have heaps of washers to build up space for nut?? Guessing thread is either stripped or there was too much thread on bolts when mq diff was bolted in. Also have a small oil leak from the sump which will hopefully be fixed with a new gasket. Once these items are addressed will take it in for a roadworthy check
Took it for a quick drive around the block yesterday and am really surprised at how well it drives for an old diesel, feels really smooth and idles beautifully! Still has black smoke on anything above 3/4 throttle but this should be fixed with a 2nd hand injector pump I've sourced.

Good work, any chance you can post some pics of the front diff, springs and shackles as the MQ diff shackle mounts sit 10mm out side from the existing standard G60 chassis mounts.

I'm wondering if the PO has used extra wide shackles to fif the front diff and not change the chassis mounts. This was done on another forum owners truck in Perth.

I also have fitted a MQ front/ rear diff in my 72, but moved out the chassis mounts, I tried fitting it in on teh standard mounts and not really happy. Glad to see you making progress.

No worries will take some front end pics and put them up for you. Also went for a drive to bunnings today and realised I had been driving with injector pump cable pulled out(this is used to turn off the car instead of EDIC) anyway was quite surprised car still started but even more surprised black smoke issue has stopped
Double checked cable and started car again with it out and noticed cable goes in maybe 10mm then stops, which appears to lean injector pump out. Guessing cable all the way in must richer fuel up for cold starts, whatever the reason can tick that issue off my list

Have pretty much ticked everything off on my to do list in preparation for a roadworthy inspection. Only thing I'm worried about is a tiny drip of oil left every time i drive the car, seems to be from rear sump area so probably rear main seal. Hoping inspection guy isn't too picky

Roadworthy passed today with flying colours
Will be installing a small bench seat in the rear from a suzuki 4x4 and was thinking about adding a flat floor through the rear area with storage underneath. Am currently installing a small sound system consisting of 2 small speakers mounted to the roll cage and then sent to an amp where it will be controlled via my iphone via Bluetooth. Have done this in the past and can get some decent sound without having to hack up the vehicle.
Will also be mounting some kayak racks on the roof to transport my Hobie outback.

I do like my kayak...but I'll confess to giving the Hobie a sideways glance every time I'm in the shop...
