60Patrol

Its not a factory Ute, its a Converted MWB a seen on a fair few pre 66 Aussie g60s, its one of the ones Nissan converted into Utes out of wagon bodies. From my history reports and research, Nissan never offered both Wagons and Utes on the production line till 1966,anything before was a special order modified wagon. I also have a 67 ute, its one of 2 that I know off in Australia, the other is in Tasmania. My ute has roof Gutters like the later ones, has Non folding windscreen brackets ect.

Down in Hobart but the Ute's in FNQ. There's a thread on it in here. Just bought an utterly ratted wreck for $100 (literally broke in half getting it to my Dad's property) but it has a motor that still turns, two boxes and hopefully at least one or two other things... And plan on keeping it all stock for now so that should be handy.

Have a "to get" list in the thread too, not really sure what parts you have or how interested you are in selling (I'll grab a pile of them new from the 4wd products guy on ebay which addresses most of it anyway) but might be in touch at some point about that if you're interested.

^ For anyone who doubted the providence of this truck, you can still see the shadow of Lorinna and the TFS Logo on the doors (Mum noticed this one).

^ There's a manual primer on the fuel pump - that's an awesome idea! I'm not sure if this is common or not (I'm not even sure if my other trucks don't have one). It would be very useful. And yes - the fuel line has sheered off the front of the pump - doh!



^ Speaking of sheering off - the pipe thing that is on the front of the engine was broken off. Thankfully it's a bolt-on and not part of the engine block.



^ I'm removing the remaining guard at the moment. It's not in brilliant shape - but would be recoverable if needed.
Showing my utter lack of mechanical experience - any idea what the magic boxes are? Relays for the lights?
When it's not quite so late at night I want to give that horn a test - it appears to have a hermit crab living in it Or maybe it's an old wasp nest.



And the interior light! In my later trucks it was mounted in the glove box (same with Dad's old trucks) - but this one sits in the middle of the dash were it would actually be useful as an interior light, and when you need to move it - it's still on the trusty cable. This seems a far more sensible idea Is that normal on the earlier trucks?

Early Patrols were fitted with a fuel pump with a primer. A very nice feature to have. Don't throw that pump away, since it can be repaired. The upper case with the broken piece inside, can be interchanged with newer pumps.

Of the two relays that you pointed out in one picture, the smaller (left in the picture) is the horn relay, and the bigger is a starter relay. You can open them carefully, and file and polish the contacts and you'll be good to go for many years!

What Esteban said. Those items and the dash map light and others that you'll discover were standard on early Patrols.
