Hey Don, how many miles or kms on your transmission? Mine has 15000 miles on it and am wondering if I will need these soon enough.

Re: Synchronizer Rings 32604-08003
It's a good question. I do not know what the actual mileage is for the Minion Missile. After owning this 'gem' for a little over a year, I am completely convinced that it is a Frankenstein-mobile, assembled with piece parts of multiple Patrols and put together just enough so that it could be sold. After acquiring it, one of the first things I did was send it to the transmission shop because I want this thing to be 100% trustworthy and I want to drive it frequently. It was completely rebuilt, with new bearings and new seals all around - including a set of NOS synchro rings (not these). Something continues be wrong though, even after taking it out multiple times. It pops out of gear while driving down the road in 3rd a lot. I don't know what the fix for this is, but I have not lost my determination. next step is to try another transmission all together. If I forget about the issue of it popping out of gear, the transmission is really tight and the addition of new synchro rings really helped with the shifting of gears between 2nd and 3rd. These are brass, unlike the gears which are hardened steel (I think). As such, they are more prone to wear. Maybe someone else can comment on how many miles would be expected between repair? I suspect part of that will have to do with what kind of miles they are - "farm" miles, or highway miles could lead to two very different answers.how many miles or kms on your transmission?

Re: Synchronizer Rings 32604-08003
Mine used to be a daily driver for a long time. My synchronizer rings didn't last long each time, and probably around 20k miles. It also had to do with my way of driving with rapid gear changes, specially from 1st to 2nd gear. There was also the fact of hilly terrain, and you didn't want to loose momentum.
My brother on the other hand, always had a different driving style (read old lady) so his shifts were more paced and smoothly done. His synchros lasted a lot more.
For me, these synchro rings have always been the weakest link in the transmission. It's like the rings are undersized compared with the mass of the other gears that they have to "brake" when you shift. By the way, they are a BMC type synchronizers (British Motor's)
