It is hard enough to keep 8mm bolts that use 12mm sockets separated from 8mm bolts that use 13mm sockets both used for the same application just different vehicles made on the same line! And maybe after the Patrol quit coming to the US, all were assembled using metric hardware.

I worked in a auto collision body shop years ago and remember having mixed, metric and standard, bolts and nuts on the same vehicle!
Sadly, my 70's Aus-delivered Patrols that I've been dismantling have both :? Major mechanicals are bolted up with imperial, much of the body is metric. And of course there's PO-added stuff like BSW fasteners holding canopies and accessories in place...and nice little touches like finding one end of your propshaft held in by ungraded UNC set screws instead of the original graded UNF shoulder bolts, complete with no locking washers !

PS ( and slightly off topic ) - to add to the bell housing / clutch arrangement, my second "what were they thinking" Patrol-ism is the front end of the rear propshaft...thou must have a crows-foot 5/8" spanner, or a metric butt-ton of patience ! ;)
