i personally see no problem with it. if we were dealing with ford taurus's then yes parts are too plentiful to deal with that. But we are dealing with hard to come by parts. Before I found an engine for my project I was toying around with different engines. Maybe someone out there is on the fence also but would prefer to have the original engine and wouldn't be nice if they found each other on here and both lived happily ever after.
keep, keep, keep

All I can say is that without the unending support from this forum it would be nearly impossible to get a Patrol back on the road. In this case a spare motor is now "known".....where else would a person find a spare motor....then likely have a fellow forum member go check it out for them before they buy it from miles and miles away? Furthermore, if a seller is or becomes questionable
they quickly warn the members. There is a lot more going on here than the "price of parts", in my humble opinion.
Grateful,

I urge everyone to stay away from items like this. Posts this two days after joining. All 4 posts are right here.

Thank you for voicing your concern with this post. As others have mentioned, I am not so inclined to delete posts such as these.
Often times a post such as this is the first post of a member because they have been directed here specifically for this purpose from another source. Same with folks that are looking for parts or information. The community has a very long reach.
Having attempted to sell engines and power trains myself I personally know that they don't move very quickly due to logistical issues. So posts like these stick around for a while. I have no indication that it is being used as an auction listing. If the seller is holding out for a reasonable price that is his prerogative. If the price is completely out of line he will probably sit on it for a very long time. I don't know that either is the case here though. Its not unusual for listings such as these never to be updated with the status of the sale.
I hope this explanation eases your concern somewhat.

Thank you River Patrol for the response. I understand your thoughts. It seems like others think I have attacked our website. They are defending the sales forum. Saying how great it is to have parts available. Without the site they could not find parts. I totally agree with them. They have all missed the point. They don't mind not knowing how much the seller wants. If they want to conduct business that way, that's their choice. I think "testing waters" is a auction. If a person does not know what they want for something how will they decide on an offer? These types of ads are to catch an unknowing desperate rich person who offers way more than fair. If that poor guy or gal comes along, they snatch them up.
This site is great and I really like it. Thought I would try to protect it from becoming a tool for scammers.
From now on, all my sales ads will say "accepting offers. I'm just trolling the waters for a sucker"

We keep a close eye on all posts, especially first posts selling something. We have caught scammers before anyone was ever scammed and sent them on their way. I am aware of only one transaction that caused someone to be taken advantage of, and that was between two active members (neither of whom are active any longer) during a private transaction, not one posted. I have had people contact me privately to get my opinion on a transaction before they went ahead with it. That's fine, that's what we're here for. Rest assured, we watch out for everyone.

Thank you admin for the support. And to respond to those dictating what and how members should post is absurd. Everyone is responsible for what they invest their money. If the price is high don't need to buy it simple as that. If the price is right good for both of us. I was referred to this forum by a member, it helped me a lot with my patrol and no I'm not a scammer.
