I started my mockup using a piece of 1x8, it is 3/4 thick. I will have to turn the center of the rotor out before I can test fit but so far I like how it looks.

Re: Disc brake conversion
Well I think I will be using Isuzu Rodeo rotors. The distance between the lug bolting surface and the top of the spindle flange is about 2 7/16 inches. The first rotor I tried (2000 4runner ) was 2 1/2 inches deep from back bolt flange to outside surface. The 1977 Land Cruiser measures about 1 9/16 deep. The 2002 Rodeo is right at 2 inches. This will allow room for the adapter to protrude under the rotor without hitting. If I start with a thicker plate I can make the adapter out of one piece instead of tow welded together.

Re: Disc brake conversion
I am back with better results this time. I am using 1993 Toyota 4Runner calipers with 2002 Isuzu Rodeo rotors. I started this build with a piece of 7/8" hot roll that was 6" x 7". My finished piece was .600 thick so I could have started with 5/8 stock. The outside measurements are 6" x 6-5/8".

Re: Disc brake conversion
Having a father that is a machinist is very beneficial. First we had to open a hole that would allow the adapter to center up on the spindle.

We had to recess a pocket into the adapter so that it would drop down over the spindle and allow the correct spacing for the caliper.

I located the mounting points for the caliper and drilled and tapped them. I kept them metric since the caliper is metric and I did not want to change the caliper.

Re: Disc brake conversion
I needed to open the center of the rotor and square up the backside too. I then re drilled the lug holes to 19/32, I wanted to keep them as snug as possible.
I had to do some trimming of the 4runner brake pads as they were hitting the scratchers.

Re: Disc brake conversion
Here is the finished product. Not sure if I will need wheel spacers yet. I will work on that next weekend.

Re: Disc brake conversion
I guess since my Patrol does not run I should start working on that frist! haha. I tore down the replacement engine for inspection, It is also a 1967 engine about 90 numbers away from my correct incomplete engine.

My original engine has sat many years open and even without having pistons in it it will not turn over.

Re: Disc brake conversion
do you think you'd be able/kind enough to post a "final" parts list of all that you used to do this? rotor part numbers, caliper part numbers, steel stock sizes for custom bracket, etc...would be much appreciated!
