I see the parts catalog lists 44071-30100 as the only rear brake return spring. However, Esteban shows in one of his posts (Rear Brake Shoes Position and Return Springs) that there are 2 different springs in the rear. Are people just using the one listed spring for both on the rear?

The other question was, is there any update on getting front springs? It seems impossible to find!

Thank you all for your help as always :)
I don't think it will be a major issue using the stronger of both springs in both positions. But the two springs are difficult to find. Same issue with the front brake springs.

I'm sure that the springs are still being made in Colombia, and I will ask member rrodriguezsal to help us and make a group purchase.

Take a look at this: https://www.60patrol.com/forum/viewtopi ... 749#p46749

Member Dustybaird found a source for at least one of the springs!

As I begin brake replacements I had a few questions I was hoping the more knowledgeable could answer:

Thank you all for the spring info, I ordered the rear springs and am talking to a shop about making front ones.

Next question (I'm sorry!) is this...
I want to run all new brake lines, but because I am a newbie I am not sure what to get when I am looking at the compatable parts list.
In particular I can't seem to find these short brake lines that run from the splitter block to the brake cylinders in the front. They seem to be 3/8 male on both ends (maybe its not a true 69?). I don't see them listed in the compatable parts list, or am I just blind? The list references some with a threaded end then a clip end, mine seem to be threaded on both ends as shown in the picture.

I guess maybe I am just not clear on what each part of the lines is called. Thanks again to anyone willing to help answer my questions, I feel bad I have so many!

Never use "I'm sorry" for a question in this forum. Every question is a valid one.

Your best bet will be to use ready made lengths of brake lines with 3/8"-24 fittings, and then make some loops if they are too long. All the steel brake lines are 3/8"-24, for Patrols up to 1977 (?) The only critical in length are those on each one of the front wheel cylinders.

This thread has some good info:

Hello all! Thought I would do a quick update.

Thank you so much for the information so far. Thanks to you I have the correct brake parts now installed, and new lines ran. I did find a very interesting brakeline setup while doing this - it seems the previous owner ran brake line frome the Master cylinder, through the firewall to a switch that operates the brake lights (and has a handle for some reason as well), then back through the firewall down to the first Tee. I don't imagine this was stock haha, seems maybe the brake light switch stopped working and this was their solution? I have no idea. I will fix this eventually after some more pressing repairs.

Now that the wheels are done I am ready to move on to the emergency brake pads, which leads me to my next question:
How do I remove the emergency brake assembly so I can put new brake material on? I have the material and rivets ready to go. I searched the forums best I could for this information, as well as the manual, but had no luck. If anyone can link me to a how-to it would be much appreciated!

Thanks again!

If memory serves -- someone redid their eBrake band using material from McMaster Carr and their oven... I took the easy route and had someone else do it!

Smart! I originally tried to find someone to re-line it for me as well, but every shop I called said they don't do that kind anymore and don't know of anyone who does.

I'm going to attempt doing it myself, but just like with the brakes / lines, I think I will pay a mechanic to double check my work!

That is...if I can figure out how to remove the assembly haha.

Well the good news is I was able to remove the emergency brake fairly easily after studying how it is assembled for a minute. For my future self and others I will explain that you basically remove the nuts on the right hand side, then simply push the bolt/pin they were attached to up until you can pull the brake off. On the left side there is a pin the screws in you'll have to remove with a flat head. Here's a picture as I pulled the pin/bolt out.

And as you can see, there was a very obvious reason the patrol was not staying put on an incline haha...

I've managed to have two eBrakes relined at our local shop. Well they actually sent it away to a workshop somewhere in Australia. Cost was $130 AUD. You also could just buy the liner.
Not sure if I will get there.
Not sure if I will get back.
But I usually do!!!
