Shall I rebuild this carb or buy a new one? '67 Patrol

Estaban, that ebay knockoff Carter carb has my Patrol humming smoothly! I have been away from this project for a bit but have now gotten back at it.

Is it possible to send me a few pics of your revised carb linkage please? I’ve got an idea but I think my angles may be a bit aggressive.

Not the prettiest work I should say. What was done in a rush, remained permanently almost 35 years later!

At that time there were no linkage adapters of any sort, so I had a machinist turn the ball with a threaded end so I could attach it to the welded plate. Then I used the linkage of a 74 model Patrol, that is shorter than the original one of a 65 (Hitachi carburetors in both cases)

Carb is installed and choke cable hooked up. It fires off almost immediately and idles like a kitten. But I do have a stutter right when you give it a bit of throttle. I've got the air / full screw 3 turns out.

What settings are you running on yours?

If it’s running smoothly at any rpms but hesitates a bit when you give it a bit of throttle, there could be some lag at the accelerator pump (diaphragm).

When you accelerate very slowly, the fuel coming from the pump diaphragm makes little difference.

There could be some play in the linkage that actuates the diaphragm pump.

I’m away from home at the moment. Will have to take a look at my carb to refresh myself on how to adjust it.
