I bet you wake up in the middle of the night with a solution for something. Or loose sleep until the solution arrives

Fortunately, I am a good sleeper which is a blessing compared to many of my friends, however you are right when it comes to contemplating an idea it does stick with until it is sorted out one way or another.
That darn sprocket took me a good 12 months to find and was always in the back of my mind.
The longer it took to find, I became more determined that I would eventually find one.
Human nature what odd thing at times, but so good for the soul...

As mentioned previously, I am not 100% happy with my bead breaker just yet.
It to me is a very important tool to have especially since I have the other tools that work in conjunction with it when it comes to playing with tires.

There is a beautiul American mad handheld bead breaker tool which is made in a size for truck and tractor tire as well as a car version.
It seems to be hand hydraulic and I'd love one for Christmas.
I took a tour around Youtube and discovered some guys have tried to make a similar tool using a screw in method rather than hydraulic, which is probably OK for car tires.

So I spend a day in the workshop the other day and sort of coppied two versions to make my own version.
Boy my scrap pile is shrinking.
Dimensions as usual were light on but I found enough to get by I think.
I made my version which I have not tried yet and right now see it as a back up to what I have that is not doing what I'd hoped it would.

It appears not for me but others who do off road and long distance trips and carry spare tires this would be an handy and easy item to fabricate and carry on board a Nissan patrol even.

The last picture is from the internet of one of the tools I copied, so yoyu can see roughly how it mounts up to the rim.

Very handy.

Yep darn hot here but could not resist since many of you are in winter.
The degree numbers we are getting are way past anybodies age... Hahahaha!!!

Hello again to you all out there.
Medical issues continue to consume much of my time but I thought I'd like to share a small tool that I admit to copying from the internet.
I kind of guestimated the sizes and then found scrap steel from my stash that fitted the requirements roughly.

Anyway I posted my log splitter that I had converted to do bead breaking on tires.
I must say while it worked it was problematic and took too much effort and did not meet my expectations.
The other side issue if you can call it that is you cant take it with you on a road trip

So to solve these two concerns of mine I made this handheld tool that works way better and is small and compact.
So take a look and see what you think, I'm sure many of you folks would like to have one in your tool box when off road.
Part of my situation is I buy cheap rims for other needs from burnout guys and the tire rubber is way more difficult to bead break, many folks know this so dont consider buying such rims.
My new tool doesnt seem to have any trouble breaking beads and so I do OK with price when buying old rims.

Sorry, it seems that I have posted this before, those darn meds and long covid...

However, I did make this from scrap for cutting small tube and flat sheet using an old angle grinder I had.
